Our guest speaker will be Mike Shattuck, director of research for the Birmingham Business Alliance. The Birmingham Business Alliance was created July 10 of this year by the merger of the Birmningham Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Metropolitan Development Board.The Business Alliance seeks to be a catalyst and unifying voice for economic development and business prosperity in the Birmingham region, which includes Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby and St.Clair and Walker Counties.
Mike's diverse background includes city planning for the Jefferson County Department of Land Development, site location analysis for AIG Baker Shopping Center Properties, business information research for the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce; and economic development for the Shelby County Economic and Industrial Development Authority and the Birmingham Metropolitan Development Board. He is currently responsible for the economic research program that supports the economic development and marketing initiative for Metropolitan Birmingham. Mike has a Master of Science in Geography with concentration in Regional and Urban Planning from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
